U15’s
U15 Season Overview 2009 This was the last season of New Forest Representative cricket for this group of players, some of whom have played for the full 6 years since U10, namely; A Mullings, R Morey, C Wood, R Loseby, T Arnold, P Elliott and S Richards, way back on the 1st June 2004 Vs the Hampshire Academy as the County squad was called then. This season, as with all the others in which I have been involved in as Manager, has been one of continual improvement across all disciplines of the game with 7 wins from the 10 games played. I’m sure there would have been an even better win ratio had we played the 6 others which were rained upon. Notable team performances of the season must be in beating the pre-festival favorites North Hants by a massive 144 runs in May and a strong NEC Surrey side (including 4 Surrey County boys) by 5 wickets in July. Well done to the U14 players drafted in to the Festival side this season, D Morrison (3-10 Vs N.Hants), R Newman, M Whytehead (3-8 Vs N.Hants), D Steadman and C Holloway (50* Vs N.Hants). U15 Match Results 2009 At Langley Manor – 245 for 6 Vs U14’s 113 all out – won by 132 runs At College Field – Guernsey 106 all out Vs U15’s 107 for 5 – won by 5 wkts At Port Soif – 140 all out Vs Guernsey 141 for 4 – lost by 6 wkts At New Milton – 223 all out Vs North Hants 79 all out – won by 144 runs At New Milton – 220 all out Vs SE Hants 222 for 1 – lost by 9 wkts At Lambs Corner – 254 for 8 Vs Cardiff 200 all out – won by 54 runs At New Milton – NEC Surrey 155 all out Vs U15’s 158 for 5 – won by 5 wkts At New Milton – Winchester 17 for 1 – rained off At New Milton – 177 all out Vs SE Hants 178 for 5 – lost by 5 wkts At New Milton – Winchester 131 all out Vs U15’s 132 for 2 – won by 8 wkts At Langley Manor – West Sussex 169 for 6 Vs U15’s 172 for 7 – won by 3 wkts Cancelled due to the weather – North Hants, NEC Surrey, Oxfordshire and the Vale of the White Horse, Isle of Wight (when at the Ferry Port) and West Berkshire.
Statistics 2009 season– top 4 batsmen / top 4 bowlers (min 5 wkts / 100 runs)
U15 Sponsorship / Funding Many thanks over the years to Moore Blatch Solicitors (Andy Kirby) who have been with us almost since inception, The Mustard Corporation, The Rachel Sharman Trust and in the early days, Morey Homes, as well as one or two anonymous donors along the way. All have contributed with funding which has gone toward kit (both match day and training), bespoke coaching, as well as tours both on the mainland and overseas (Channel Islands). It has been a great pleasure looking after this age group over the last 5 years (some other poor soul took them at U10) and casting my eye over 40 plus players who have all had the chance to represent the team; many have played for the Best of District side with 3 going onto the full County squad. Noticeable when looking at the stat’s below that as the players mature they start to develop and get selected for batting or bowling / keeping rather than ‘everything’ when they start, it’s an interesting journey of development. U15 County Interest 2009 Congratulations to the following boys from the New Forest in this age group who represented the County this season; C. King – Wellow & Plaitford R Morey – Hyde D Rides – Wellow & Plaitford Well done also to the following 3 boys who represented the Best of District U15 side in 2009; T Arnold T Beresford G Thew R Newman (U14 keeper) And finally; Top 6 Batsmen and top 6 Bowlers 2004-2009;
